A joint venture of Cork based companies EPS Group and Sisk Construction was recently awarded the contract to design and build the 65,000 population equivalent wastewater treatment facility at Shanbally to serve the Cork Lower Harbour area. This is great news for the harbour area. At present, the wastewater from Passage West, Monkstown, Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, Cobh, Carrigaline and Crosshaven discharges to Cork Harbour untreated. The new wastewater treatment plant will collect all this raw wastewater and treat it before discharge.
