Worked towards balancing infrastructure, schools and amenities throughout the Celtic Tiger Era
So many planning applications for new, multi-storey development hit Passage West and Monkstown during the Celtic Tiger. So few infrastructural supports following from Cork County Council. At the time, Passage West did not even have a community centre. I prepared many planning submissions with the consultation of and on behalf of the Town Council to work positively towards balancing infrastructure and amenities in our towns with proposed development. Most of these submissions were respected and acted upon both by Cork County Council and An Bord Pleanala.
Again in consultation with the members, I prepared many submissions to County Development Plan and Local Area Plan reviews on behalf of the Town Council. The aim of these was to make the infrastructural and amenity requirements of Passage West/Monkstown statutory aims of Cork County Council. Many of the points in these submissions were taken on board and are part of county statutory planning today.
I have also prepared and delivered illustrated presentations to both Cork County Council and large developers on sustainable development in our towns. Again, these were well and positively received and helped us to move forward together.
