Organised and ran the Passage West Dog Show

A fun event involving lots of dogs is one of the best ways to promote responsible pet waste management.  The Passage West Dog Show achieved just that!

It was organised by a team of myself and a wonderful friend with much canine-related experience, supported by Passage West Tidy Towns.  The first Dog Show was run in 2012 as a stand-alone event.  We were delighted by how well it was attended.  In fact, one attendee was heard to say that it was the best day out in Passage West in years!  The 2013 Dog Show was run as part of the Passage West Maritime Heritage Festival.  The crowds were even greater the second time round.

The event was run entirely on a feel-good, not-for-profit basis.  Prizes for the raffle were generously donated by local businesses and outlying pet shops.  Face painting and chocolate-dipped marshmallows were tremendous hits with the children.  A Cork-based dog welfare charity erected a stall to connect with the dog-loving crowd.  A local trainer kindly erected and ran a challenging and fun agility course for both dogs and owners.

We hope to run the Passage West Dog Show again in 2014 and are confident it will be the same great afternoon’s entertainment for dogs and dog-lovers that it has been in the past two years.
