Part of a team working on a Community Profile and Description of Family Support Services in our towns
I was one of a few members of Passage West/Monkstown Town Council who worked with a researcher on this SECAD-funded project into collating a Community Profile and Description of Family Support Services in Passage West/Monkstown.
The aim of the research was to identify the various characteristics of the population in the town – young, old, single, married, employed, unemployed, etc. All the social support facilities available to the people of Passage West/Monkstown were identified. This included not merely the social support facilities available within the area, but also those further afield but used by the people within our towns.
It was hoped that the report would form the basis of a larger Community Needs Study, the ultimate aim of which would be to seek funding for the establishment of a community centre.
